Travel For International Guests

We are always delighted to welcome international guests to the Isle of Wight to come and explore the island. Over the years, we have welcomed a number of international guests and their families from Germany, The Netherlands, France, Ireland, Norway, Luxembourg, UAE, United States, Australia and more.

We’ve got all of the details for those coming from abroad on how to get to us:

Air

The nearest airport is Southampton Airport, which has flights from the Channel Islands, Scotland (Edinburgh and Glasgow), Ireland and Northern Ireland (Dublin and Belfast), The Netherlands (Amsterdam), France (Paris, Avignon, Bergerac, Brest, Chambery, Corsica, La Rochelle, Limoges, Perpignan, Rennes, Toulon-Hyères), Switzerland (Geneva), Spain (Ibiza, Majorca, Menorca) and Italy (Verona).

The airport’s station, Southampton Airport Parkway, has services to Southampton Central station for onward connection to Town Quay and the island, as well as bus U1 from Unilink runs to Town Quay also. Further afield, there is London Gatwick, which is on the train line to both Portsmouth and Southampton with Southern, and London Heathrow, London Stansted and London City Airport, which connect into the train network via London Underground for the first two and Docklands Light Railway and then London Underground for the last to reach either London Waterloo or London Victoria to travel to Portsmouth or Southampton.

Car hire is also available at the airports.

Eurostar

Eurostar (eurostar.co.uk) offer frequent services from France and beyond into Europe for both direct and indirect services. The direct services run to and from Paris, Lille, Lyon, Avignon and Marseille in France, Brussels in Belgium, Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Indirect services also run from Nantes, Bordeaux, Lourdes, Toulouse, Strasbourg and Calais in France, Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp in Brussels and more.

Guests can travel to London St Pancras and then use London Underground to reach either London Waterloo or London Victoria to travel to Portsmouth or Southampton.

Car hire is also available at London St Pancras.

Eurotunnel Le Shuttle

Eurotunnel Le Shuttle (eurotunnel.com) also offer a frequent car service from Calais to Folkestone for those travelling from Europe looking to bring their car.

Ferry From France

P&O Ferries (poferries.com) offer a car ferry service from Calais to Dover and Brittany Ferries (brittany-ferries.co.uk) offers car ferry services from Caen, Le Havre, St Malo and Cherbourg in France and Bilbao and Santander in Spain.
