We’ve given our 130+ year old sweet chestnut tree at Highlands a major hair cut! After suffering from poor health last year, resulting in less leaves and chestnuts, we were advised to pollard it back to a previous cut to remove all the deadwood and improve its health. After getting permission from the council, the work has now been completed.
Whilst drastic, this will give the tree the best chance to thrive – with the added benefit of bringing more light into the apartments, garden and onto the solar panels! We’ve given the other trees a trim too, removing the lower branches to combat droop when in leaf.
